Whitney & Mark reached out to me just a month before their Maui adventurous elopement. They wanted something simple with no fuss and just the two of them. When I get inquiries like this, I get so excited. As I always say, your wedding day should be about the two of you and the love you share, not what other people expect from you.
Whitney and I immediately set up a phone call to talk out details since the date was so soon! Mark and Whitney love nature and didn’t want to just do a beach location. I recommended one of my favorite cliffside locations: Nakalele Blowhole. We decided on sunset so that the ceremony would be as private as possible. Luckily, the two flew in the day before so they would have been up early with the time change.
At this time of year (May) the sun rises at an early 5:45 am. I always recommend picking sunrise. Maui is a popular tourist location, so it can be difficult to have a fully private ceremony in such a beautiful location. For that reason, sunrise really is the way to go! Plus, you have the whole rest of the day to spend together!
Whitney’s mom wore a hat when she got married, so she wanted to incorporate that special little touch into her Hawaii elopement. I loved the thought in that! I’m sure her mom did too 🙂
After the ceremony, we walked down to the blowhole to explore around. Whitney immediately took her shoes off and hiked on the lava rock like a champ! Seriously, the Hawaiian lava rock is so sharp.
I always bring a speaker with me to my couples sessions and elopements. It always makes the couple 1000% more comfortable to have their favorite music playing in the background. A song that Whitney & Mark love came on, so they decided to do an impromptu first dance.
