Anina & Ben came all the way to Maui from Denmark for their intimate elopement.
The two met back in boarding school when they were just teenagers. They quickly became friends and started dating when they were twenty. They’ve now been together for over 10 years and decided to make it “official”. They didn’t want to stick to the traditional Danish wedding day, so an elopement was the perfect option for them!
Like most people that decide to elope, Anina & Ben don’t like being the center of attention. I can’t blame them! They said that Danish weddings mean a lot of attention and they weren’t about to compromise who they are for tradition’s sake.
Ben always said that when they get married he wanted it to be in Hawaii. Anina & Ben had already planned a trip to Oahu and Maui so they decided to throw in a wedding!
There’s a brutal 12-hour time difference between Denmark and Maui. This ended up working in our favor because we were able to have a sunrise elopement without the 5:45 am wake-up call being too early.
Anina & Ben wanted to keep the elopement as simple as possible. They wore clothes that they normally would and decided to opt out of music, hair and makeup, and florals. They made the elopement 100% about them and the love they share.
After their ceremony at Kanaha Beach Park, we headed to Iao Valley to get a good variety in images! It’s so nice to be able to go from a perfect sandy beach to the rugged and lush valley within a 15-minute drive. Maui seriously has it all!!! It’s the perfect place to elope.
At Iao Valley, we jumped up from rock to rock to get to the perfect spot on the river. There’s nothing like being wedged between two big mountains 🙂 Gosh, I love this island.

The time difference really helped to capture that sunrise light! Maui looks stunning and including their story of being sweethearts for so long is perfect!
LOVE! SO good. I can’t wait to shoot an elopement there. They look so happy! 💘
Stephanie, I love how you captured this intimate elopement in Maui! The photo of them walking hand in hand down the beach is one of my favorites!
This Maui elopement is SO pretty! I love how simple and happy it looks – you really captured everything that mattered to them! My favorite shot is the one where they are walking on the rocks by the stream with that huge hill behind them. SO epic!
Love this Hawaii is such a lovely place for an elopement
I want to get married in Hawaii now! Such a great job!
Love all the sweet love! And that this was a sunrise instead of sunset – how unique!!
