Meagan & Angelo have the wildest wedding story. COVID19 caused them to have a last-minute elopement on Maui. It’s a story you won’t want to miss, promise!
Meagan & Angelo had planned a 4-day trip to Maui, but when COVID19 hit, Meagan’s doctor, who treats her autoimmune disease, didn’t’ want her to travel. You see, they were already on Maui when the pandemic was declared. This was when we all thought we were going to lose a large chunk of our population. Now that it’s June, the research shows that it’s not nearly as deadly as we thought, but we didn’t know that back in March when they flew to Maui.
A 4-day vacation turned into a 65-day trip to Maui. YEP, you read that right… SIXTY-FIVE DAYS.
As our hotels all started to close their doors, Meagan & Angelo were able to find an Airbnb to host them for the last 50-or-so days of their trip. Despite all of the craziness, they absolutely fell in love with Maui (as most people do!) and knew they should just say “what the hell” and elope here. A COVID19 elopement was born! By some miracle (and almost having to cancel), they were able to find vendors to help throw together their dream elopement in their Airbnb back yard. Now, remember, they didn’t come to Maui planning to elope, so they didn’t have ANY wedding clothing. The amazing Terri from Elly’s Formal Wear had the perfect dress for Meagan. It fit her perfectly, and Terri was even able to change the straps at such last-minute notice. Meagan described herself as picky with hair and makeup. She hired Bree Rubin, and Bree nailed exactly what Meagan wanted.
Now, when Meagan and Angelo got married at their Airbnb, it was still illegal for me to photograph anything. BUT the state finally allowed photography services just 2-days before Meagan and Angelo started their journey home to Georgia. We quickly planned this amazing wedding portrait session as a way to help them remember this wild journey. Since they absolutely fell in love with Maui, we knew the locations needed to really show off the island. I think we nailed it 🙂
What?! 65 days? Crazy. You’d never know it was pretty unplanned from the photos. What a life story!
Wow!! What a story! 65 days on Maui, how could you not fall in love with the island and want to elope there?? 🙂 Stunning images, Stephanie!
WHAT!?!?!? That is a WILD story!!! That is one heck of a magical elopement. Her dress fits the vibes so perfectly. Lovely gallery.
Ah how magical! What an incredible whirlwind that must have been for them! You captured it beautifully.
Wow – so stunning! An elopement on Maui looks epic! And you have captured their love so well.
Lauren! Miss you, lady! ya 65 days here wouldn’t make me mad hahaha. Especially since we don’t have visitors and everything is so empty!
hahaha they did! Fortunately, Maui banned new airbnb bookings right after they got this one, so I’m sure the owner was happy to have a long term rental and gave a discount! Better than it sitting empty for 4 months!
We have the lowest amount of COVID places so it’s definitely the best & safest place to be stuck! Plus, empty beaches are rare so thats a huge plus!
Ok this is the craziest story ever! I wouldn’t mind being stuck on Maui for 65 days though. What an amazing way to elope!
Gorgeous! What a crazy story….. I am dying to know….. did they have to foot that entire air bnb Bill? I can only imagine how expensive it would be!! Glad it all worked out!
So lucky they were able to get married in such a beautiful place. The images are gorgeous!
Steph! This is gorgeous. And 65 days in Maui??? Would not be mad!!!
