Debby & Joe had a small family wedding back home in Canada. They kept it simple and wouldn’t have had it any other way. A few months after their wedding, they made the trip to Maui and hired me for a session. Debby & Joe opted out of a wedding photographer and decided to do an adventurous honeymoon session in Hawaii instead!
It’s so important for me to have a strong connection with my couples. I can’t expect my couples to fully be themselves in front of me if they don’t feel connected. I pride myself on capturing moments of pure honesty between my couples. The laughs, the side glances, the unique way you hold hands… all of it. The only way for me to document those moments is if my couples let their guard down and let me see their relationship as it is when no ones watching.
Debby & Joe did just that.
We greeted with a big hug in the parking lot (we don’t like to shake hands in Hawaii) and started our session! Debby is the giggliest person I’ve ever photographed. I loved seeing how Joe could make her throw her head back in hysterical laughter so easily.
We started the session by watching the sunrise from the cliffside. there’s something so special about watching the sun peak over the ocean to begin a new day. There’s nothing quite like that crisp morning air. Sunrise also means empty locations which is always ideal. Maui is a popular tourist destination, so I always recommend picking locations that are more secluded and to pick a sunrise session if you’re up for an early wakeup call!
Once the sun was up, we headed down to the blowhole. When you walk down to the blowhole it really feels like you’re on another planet. SO much lava rock.
