I always recommend having an Engagement Session with your wedding photographer, whether that be me or a different photographer. It’s great to get images of you being you, not dressed up in wedding clothes, but how you dress every day. It’s nice to walk away from the wedding experience with photos from your wedding day AND the days leading up to it.
Valerie and Brett are getting married at Merriman’s Kapalua at the end of this year. Most of my couples aren’t from Maui so I don’t get to meet them in person until the actual wedding day. When these two told me they were visiting the island for some wedding planning, I was SO excited. We got to meet up for a mini engagement session and man, I’m obsessed with them. As usual, Bree Rubin killed it with hair and makeup.
We started the session at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua. They’ll be getting ready at the hotel, so we wanted to find great places together for portraits with their wedding party. After we found a few great spots, we walked 5-minutes down to the beach for more photos. Kapalua Ironwoods is a popular location for photo sessions, but it can get windy in the evenings. We got lucky because the weather was gorgeous with no wind or rain. The waves were huge which really added to the drama of the cliffside photos we took.
